A cause of death has officially been confirmed for Lucy-Bleu Knight , the 25-year-old stepdaughter of British rocker Slash , who was found deceased at home during a welfare check last month.

The Los Angeles Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed to The New York Post yesterday, Aug. 29, that the young makeup artist's death, which was the result of hydrogen sulfide toxicity, had been ruled a suicide.

Hydrogen sulfide is a colorless gas that is highly flammable and explosive, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention . It's a gas that produces the characteristic rotten-egg odor and can cause pulmonary edema, nausea, headaches, delirium, disturbed equilibrium, tremors, convulsions, and skin and eye irritation at lower exposures. High concentrations can lead to "extremely rapid unconsciousness" and, ultimately, death.

The coroner's office confirmed to the publication that Knight, who was the daughter of Slash's longtime partner, Meegan Hodges , was found unresponsive by first responders and pronounced deceased shortly after. However, it's unclear who called in a welfare check on Knight.

While Slash confirmed her date of death in a July 22 Instagram post announcing she’d “passed away peacefully” in LA on July 19, a message appeared on Knight's personal Instagram account several days after she was gone, where she lamented "Countless missed opportunities and connections due to a disgustingly big ego, insecure heart and fear of being vulnerable."

"May my soul learn to evolve from my poor job at being Lucy-Bleu," she concluded in her last post. "Peace🌷."

Slash also announced the cancellation of several of his S.E.R.P.E.N.T tour shows the day prior, on July 21, due to "unforeseen circumstances," resuming in Toronto on July 28.
