Cargo pants are the pants that keep on giving. If they’re made correctly, not only can cargo pants be comfortable and stylish, but they also are so useful with how many pockets they have. And in women’s clothing, pockets are a major perk to any item of clothing, so the more the merrier. One of Target’s cargo pants caught our attention not just because of how many positive reviews it has, but also because of how much they look like L.L. Bean and Gap styles that are almost three times the price.

Target’s Women's Mid-Rise Utility Cargo Pants by their in-house line of women’s clothing, Universal Thread, are currently $30 and have 4 stars with 209 reviews and ratings at the time of reporting. They’re a classic, straight-leg design with a relaxed fit and mid-rise. And, of course, they’re utility cargo pants, meaning they have cargo pockets and a stylish work-pant look.

    Target

These utility cargo pants have a “soft, stretchy twill fabric” made with 78% cotton, 20% recycled cotton and 2% spandex. They have a fly button and zipper closure, defined front pocket seams, and come in two colors, olive green and cream. However, based on reviews, these pants used to come in more colors, so maybe Target will bring those back. But they do have a wide range of sizes and lengths, including regular, short and long.

Speaking of reviews, again, there is some pretty high praise coming from shoppers. One person wrote that they were “perfect cargos” and they “loved the fit” of them. And another reviewer wrote “Get them!” and that they “LOVE these pants.”

“They are the perfect work pants for a casual look,” they continued in their review. “I love that it comes in short sizes… I have these pants in all 4 colors!"

That reviewer isn’t the only one who bought multiple colors in this pair of pants. Another person wrote that they’re “going to buy 3 more!”

“I bought these in green color and LOOOOOOOOOVE them!” they wrote. “I keep ranting and raving to everyone about how comfortable they are and [how] nice they look. And everyone else that [sees] them on me gives me all the compliments.”

They also wrote that they were “thick but not overly thick,” which is great in this summer-fall transitional period we’re in right now.

    Women's Stretch Canvas Cargo Pants, Mid-Rise Straight-Leg , $69.95 at L.L Bean

    L&periodL&period Bean

As mentioned before, these Target utility cargo pants are very similar to L.L. Bean’s Women's Stretch Canvas Cargo Pants, Mid-Rise Straight-Leg . By name alone, you can tell that they’re a similar style to Target’s. The main difference is that these have a tighter fit in the legs, whereas Target’s are a more relaxed fit. Plus these have seams around the knees. They do, though, have nearly the same fabric makeup: 98% cotton and 2% spandex.

These L.L. Bean cargo pants are currently $69.95 for four of their colors—Boulder (khaki), Carbon Navy, Dusty Olive (olive green) and Peppercorn (dark gray)—and $54.99 for the color Granite. L.L. Bean’s cargo pants also come in other lengths and size categories like plus, petite and medium tall.

Mid Rise Loose Khaki Cargo Pants , $79.95 at Gap

    Gap

Target’s pants also look very similar to Gap’s Mid Rise Loose Khaki Cargo Pants , which are $79.95 for the color Mojave (dark khaki). Their other colors—light cream, desert cactus green and soft black—are on sale from $34.97 to $59.99, respectively. These are a bit closer to Target’s design than L.L. Bean’s are; Gap’s cargo pants are a loose fit, mid-rise and have cargo pockets. They’re nearly identical, with the main difference being that these are made with 100% cotton, meaning there isn’t as much stretch to them.

While cargo pants are everywhere at the moment, and you have a ton of different options, Target’s Women's Mid-Rise Utility Cargo Pants by Universal Thread seem to be worth the $30, based on reviews. And with how much they look like other, more expensive pants out there, they seem to be a good choice.
