Parents online are outraged after one mom shared her story about her son's packed meal being withheld from him at school.

On Monday, Sept. 2, Reddit user tofulovermilf took to the conversational platform to post a story about her son's breakfast in a thread entitled " mildlyinfuriating ."

"Today my son wasn’t allowed to eat his breakfast in kindergarten, because it was deemed to be too unhealthy," the title of the post read, which was uploaded alongside a photo of a blue lunchbox.

"He’s a picky eater too and was really excited about his breakfast 😭," the mom wrote, along with the contents of the breakfast meal: "I packed him apple slices, freeze dried banana chips, sunflower seeds and (the ultimate culprit) a croissant."

"Safe to say I went ballistic on the teacher," she continued to admit, adding the reasoning behind her reaction by explaining, "My poor boy was so confused and hungry when I got him."

In just 13 hours of posting, the post garnered much attention from the parenting community on the social media platform, amassing over nine thousand comments—and people didn't hold back when expressing their thoughts on the matter.

Many parents are calling for the educator in charge to be held accountable in the situation, like one, who wrote , "I don’t see how the teacher felt the best option was to starve the kid. She should be reprimanded for this."

"Do they provide him breakfast if they won’t let him eat? I wouldn’t be able to take them seriously for anything education-wise if they think starving the kid is better than eating that," another inquired , while a third suggested another way it could have been handled: "She could have let him eat it, and if it was really a problem could have said something later. Not starve the kid 😭."

"It's a problem between the parents and the teacher, not the teacher and the kid. The worst thing you can do is tell a kid they cannot eat what their parents made for them (unless it's abusively bad like molded or something)," someone else chimed in .

Meanwhile, yet another commenter was confused , as they asked, "Is the teacher a nutritionist? Beyond making sure the kid has edible food I’m not sure this is within a teacher’s purview to withhold a meal."

Yet another added their own unfiltered input: "so the teachers brilliant thought to an 'unhealthy' breakfast was to let the kid go hungry? like, i get he's not gonna starve by missing one meal but what the actual heck."

As it has not yet been even 24 hours since the posting, there's been no update on how the situation was rectified, but from the looks of it, the mom who shared the story is definitely seeking answers from both the teacher and school involved—and fellow parents fully understand why the whole ordeal was deemed problematic.

"Yeah, I told my husband about it and asked him to talk about it at the upcoming conference, which he’ll attend…since I already had a very pissy talk with her yesterday," the mom noted in the comment section.

So it's better to withhold food? That's moronic. Groceries and children can be an expense nobody is prepared for all of the time. Yesterday your son liked peanut butter today he hates it.

My dad would have went to the school and got hands on with the teacher if that happened to me.
