Tammy Slaton of 1000-Lb Sisters hasn't publicly commented on her sister Amy Slaton 's recent arrest yet, but she is speaking out about the importance of mental health on social media.

In a video posted to Instagram on Tuesday, September 3, Tammy opened up about how she's learning to deal with her emotions in a positive way.

"For a long time, my friends were my family," Tammy said in the clip. "Watching my show made me realize, I wasn't good to them. I wasn't a nice person. I realized that talking about things that are bothering me is the only way I'm going to get past my insecurities, especially when I'm mad because I personally don't know how to switch it like that easy."

"It helps me understand...that I don't need to turn to food or anger or whatever to be happy and lose weight. I feel great about myself," she continued.
