Kelly Clarkson Looks Effortlessly Chic in Denim Jumpsuit

Kelly Clarkson ' s sense of style was on display this week.

The 42-year-old singer was spotted in New York City at Tom's Restaurant—the famous diner from Seinfeld —on Wednesday, Sept. 4, and her look was equal parts casual and chic.

Wearing a light denim jumpsuit with wide legs and buttons down the front, Clarkson smiled for the cameras, a blue Stanley water bottle in one hand. The talk show host's hair was long and loose, hanging in soft waves, and she accessorized with white sneakers and a touch of red lipstick.

On the same day that Clarkson visited the iconic NYC eatery, she also posted a video to Instagram in honor of the 22nd anniversary of her American Idol win.

In the clip, The Kelly Clarkson Show digital producer Andrew Shaw had to remind Clarkson about the date's special significance.

"Hey Kel, it's September 4," Shaw said from behind the camera.

"It is September 4," Clarkson agreed, not picking up on Shaw's hint.

"On this day 22 years ago..." Shaw prompted, which seemed to trigger Clarkson's memory.

"Oh my God! It's September 4! Oh my God when you said that date, I got nervous, like, 'Did I miss an anniversary?'" Clarkson continued, adding, "22 years since winning American Idol . And I'm back on TV. Who would have thought?"

As important as the day was to her, Clarkson admitted that she had other things on her mind at the moment.

"That's so exciting, Andy I forgot! I didn't even realize what it was, I'm worried about my kid's first day at school, which is tomorrow," she said.
