Kitchen mishaps happen and some are easier to clean than others. Probably one of the worst ones is dropping an egg on the floor. The slippery egg white and yolk get everywhere and they're hard to clean up with paper towels. The egg white can also seep into cracks or spread around when wiped, and eggs can leave a lingering odor if they're not cleaned up thoroughly.

That's why this easy cleaning hack from @lynsey_queenofclean is brilliant and exactly what we needed to see. This is going to make it much easier to clean up those messes the next time we break an egg.

Lynsey says that when you drop an egg, you just need to sprinkle some salt over the mess and let it sit for a few minutes. The salt will help thicken the egg, making it easier to lift up without smearing it around.

"The salt helps solidify the egg, making it so much easier to clean up!" she said in the caption of her Instagram post. Once it's solidified, you can use a spatula or a paper towel to scoop up the majority of the mess. Follow that with a Clorox wipe and you are good to go!

People really loved this idea, and it's so simple to do.

"What a great idea. Would never have thought of it," someone commented on Lynsey's post. We never thought of it, either!

"Fantastic tip many thanks," someone else said. It really is and it's going to come in handy.

"Never seen this tip before, brilliant!!" another person chimed in. We feel the same way!

Most people agreed that this was a great tip that will help out in the kitchen.

If you don't want to use salt, you can also use baking soda, flour or cornstarch, all of which will have a similar effect. After removing the egg, wipe the surface with a wet paper towel or a sponge soaked in warm soapy water to remove any of the remaining stickiness. Vinegar can also help eliminate the egg’s odor and ensure the area is sanitized.
