McDonald's Fans 'Booing' Its Collectible Halloween Buckets After 'Downgrade' Redesign

Eek! McDonald's fans are feeling horrified by this year's Boo Buckets —and we don't mean in the fun Halloween way.

Instead, customers have been left feeling both frightened and disappointed by the new design of the fast food restaurant's collectible Halloween buckets, which some fans on social media are calling a major "downgrade."

As seen in an Instagram post shared by food news expert account @snackolator, this year's lineup, once again, consists of four different bucket designs—but instead of featuring four separate Halloween characters, each bucket depicts a slightly different variation of a yellow-eyed monster.

As opposed to last year's buckets , which featured "Skeleton Orange," "Mummy White," "Vampire Purple," and "Monster Green," designs, this year's color options are blue, green, orange and white, each with its own monster depiction stamped on the front.

The new Boo Buckets don't have lids like they did in the old days, but they do have yellow McDonald arches on the handles, a switch-up from last year's handles that matched the color of each respective bucket.

Snackolator did note a "disclaimer" in the post on Thursday, Sept. 5, sharing that McDonald's unveiled this 2024 lineup in another country, so there's still a chance the design could be different for U.S. locations—but fans are afraid this could be all McDonald's has to offer for this year's Boo Buckets.

"These are not cute at all! I will pass this year," one user wrote on Instagram, while someone else lamented, "I say Boo! To these Boo buckets,"

"Yuck, downgrade. Also, can we get a real lid," a different Instagram comment read.

Another fan even went as far as to say this year's buckets are the "worst McDonalds bucket character design ever," as they seem to be lacking that nostalgic essence that fans know and love.

"Meh. It's the nostalgia we want!" one user protested.

According to Snackolator, fans can expect the Boo Buckets to hit their local McDonald's around Oct. 14, or a few days later.
