Costco Just Recalled Two Popular Items—Here's What You Need to Know

Without sounding too presumptuous, you’ve probably spent a decent amount of time in the last few months side-eyeing the popsicles , apple juice , chicken nuggets , and candy you picked up on your previous trip to Walmart —and who can blame you? Once you’ve seen floppy, inedible, rubbery fruit and the occasional wriggling parasite, you can’t unsee it, no matter how much you might want Will Smith to wipe your memory with a neuralyzer. The unfortunate reality is that our current food systems aren’t as sustainable as they may seem on the surface, and nothing is insulated from the possibility of a recall.

Fortunately, aside from the recent Boar’s Head deli meat debacle , we typically find out about recalled goods well before they have the opportunity to cause any serious damage. And while it’s scary to think that we’re collateral for the missteps in our supply chain, we’re more informed than ever about the things that are on our plate. That being said, Costco just added two more items to the growing list of product recalls, and you might want to check your freezer if you’ve just finished your weekly grocery haul.

First on the list is the fan-favorite Kodiak Buttermilk & Vanilla Power Waffles , sold in packs of 40. Delicious as these protein-packed frozen waffles are, they are being recalled due to possible contamination of a soft plastic film, which is the complete opposite of good eats. Thankfully, no adverse reactions or injuries have been reported, but if you happen to have grabbed a box at a Costco location in the Midwest, you’ll want to be on the lookout for a use-by date of January 10, 2026; a lot code of 24193-WL4; a time stamp of 12:00-23:00; and a UPC of 705599019203.

Next up is the Rock River Cattle Co. Smokey Hibachi Seasoned Beef Skirt Steak , which was recalled due to a potential risk to people with allergies to soy, wheat and sesame. The recalled packages in question don’t list the allergens on the product label, posing a threat to unsuspecting shoppers who may have tossed packages with a sell by date of September 13, 2024 into their cart.

If you happen to have purchased the affected products in question, you can return them to the warehouse you purchased them from or contact the American Foods Group hotline at (800) 829-2838 or email info@AmericanFoodsGroup.com with any further questions. Additionally, you can reach Kodiak via email or phone at flapjacks@kodiakcakes.com or (801) 328-4067.

In lighter food news, Sam’s Club just dropped their seasonally appropriate pumpkin crumb cake , and we’re already on our way to go pick one up.
