In my humble opinion, instant ramen can't be eaten on its own. Well, it technically can be, but how boring is that? I always need to add a little something to that bowl of noodle soup to make dinner a little more interesting and/or fun.

When my fridge is fully stocked, I've loaded up my ramen with almost too many toppings: chopped green onions, baby spinach , egg , sausage , fresh herbs and chili oil . When my fridge is less full and I need food fast, doctoring my ramen is a little more challenging. Luckily, the internet is simmering with tons of ideas about what to do with a pack of instant ramen, and it turns out there's one simple ingredient that's always in my fridge that I didn't realize I should be adding to my ramen: Greek yogurt .

Why Should You Add Greek Yogurt to Instant Ramen?

Creamy, thick Greek yogurt is a great breakfast, it's nice for baking and it's a cool topping for things like soups, chilis and baked potatoes. When mixed into instant ramen, the thick yogurt adds creaminess and tang, while also tempering flavors (spice, saltiness) if your instant ramen is a little too intense for you. And because Greek yogurt is high is protein, you also get a little nutrition boost.

Cook your instant ramen according to the package directions. I'm partial to Shin Ramyun and Jin Ramyun, but this trick will work on any instant ramen soup. Add in a spoonful of Greek yogurt and stir it in. I use zero percent fat FAGE Greek yogurt because that's what I keep on hand, but a full-fat Greek yogurt will add more creaminess and body to your noodle soup.

To balance everything out, I like to finish my ramen with a dash or two of hot sauce and a big squeeze of lime . With a little help of dairy, spice and acid, instant ramen gets the easiest upgrade it could ever get.
