One mother on social media has ignited a fierce debate about Target's shopping cart redesign after a TikTok video she posted explaining her gripes with the updated features went viral.

The woman and toddler mom, who goes by the.darling.edit on the video sharing platform, took to the app to upload a disgruntled clip featuring her little one sitting in the front of the newly-debuted shopping carts.

Taken from a retail location in Los Angeles, Calif., she opened the snippet, "Um, there is a redesign on Target carts and I haven't seen anybody talking about it because it's brand new; they literally just rolled these carts out," she said, before adding, "You can definitely tell that they did not consult one single mother while redesigning these carts."

As her explanation continued, the mom said, "Let me show you," as she offered her take on why the changed features simply don't work for her (or moms, in general, as she attempts to describe). "First of all, I do like the bucket seat, but I think pretty much anyone can tell you we don't want the cupholders up here," she expressed, while showcasing the new placement of the beverage-holders, positioned right next to her daughter's seat.

"We really don't, because guess who's gonna be pulling up my straw and trying to drink my iced coffee? This one, yep," she continued.

Another aspect of the cart redesign the TikTok user felt was flawed was the gray tray directly in front of the cart seat: "And you see these little holes? Perfect size for toddler fingers to get their fingers literally stuck in there," she demonstrated while putting her own finger in a hole, adding that she presumes this issue will cause "some sort of lawsuit" in "only a matter of time."

Adding in her own opinion on potential improvements, she suggested the cupholders be moved toward the back of the cart, instead, situated inside the large section, to the side—something several social media users didn't seem to agree with.

To further bring home her overall dissatisfaction, the video was titled, "Target Cart Redesign Fail," which was highlighted in red at the top of the video.

@target did you even ask moms if this was a good idea? 😂 i know we arent the only ones who use these…but come on 😭 #targethaul #targetfinds

In the caption of the post, she posed a question directly to the popular retailer: " @target did you even ask moms if this was a good idea? 😂 i know we arent the only ones who use these…but come on 😭 #targethaul #targetfinds ."

People in the comment section were conflicted, as several chimed in disagreeing with the toddler mom.

"I actually kind of like the cupholder there – my son can put his cup there himself, so it’s not getting dropped in the store," one admitted, while another agreed, "I DO want the cup holder there and not in my cart where I put all my things."

A third chimed in echoing the above sentiment, as they reasoned, "Constant target shopper here and I don’t think I’ve ever seen a kid in a cart before 😂 they are always running around or in their own stroller. But I do see a lot of iced coffee drinkers."

On the other hand, some did think the cart redesign was flawed, bringing other concerns to the forefront.

"What about kiddos that are on the bigger side or tall side? Those seats are small," someone asked, as another TikToker campaigned, "AND TWO SEATS!!! I have two kids I need two seats."

"Boooo Target Cart," an additional commenter lamented.

Meanwhile, another follower tried to offer a solution of their own: "Laying a small blanket or towel over the tray may help hide/cover the little holes. I agree that’s a unfortunate design decision ♥️."

Cart redesign aside, the shopping destination does have two exciting new releases just in time for fall and the Halloween season that customers have been eager to try to get their hands on: the cutest set of straw toppers and a trick-or-treat pail that parents are calling the "coolest thing ever."
