It's hard to beat a c lassic chocolate chip cookie, but leave it to social media to try. People all over our FYP are transforming their chocolate chip cookie dough into crispy-on-the-outside, gooey-on-the-inside chocolate chip cookie fries. The stick-shaped snacks are perfect for dipping, dunking, and devouring, no potatoes (or deep frying) necessary. Read on for the ooey-gooey details.

Chocolate chip cookie fries are exactly what they sound like— chocolate chip cookie dough cut into little "fries" using a crinkle cutter and baked until crispy. The result? Crispy, tender cookie sticks that are great dipped into raspberry sauce, caramel , whipped cream —or just a tall glass of milk.

You only need two things to make these cute little fries: a crinkle cutter (found at kitchen supply stores or online) and chocolate chip cookie dough.

Begin by rolling your cookie dough out to 1/4 to 1/2 inch thickness (I did this right on a Silpat-lined baking sheet). Cut the cookie dough into 10 rough rectangles. Freeze the dough rectangles for about 10-15 minutes while you preheat the oven to 350°.  This freezing step will help the cookie rectangles retain their shape, which translates to nicer-looking cookie fries.

Take the dough out of the freezer and separate the dough rectangles a few inches apart so they don't bake together. Bake until the cookie rectangles are lightly browned on the bottom, which took 10-12 minutes for me. Remove from the oven and let cool for three minutes. Then, go in with your crinkle cutter. Starting at the edge of each rectangle, cut about four fries from each, being very gentle when lifting up the cutter and cleaning up the edges as you go. (Bonus: You'll have cookie scraps left over.) Let the "fries" cool completely on the cookie sheet before removing them.

What I Thought About Chocolate Chip Cookie Fries

The TikTok video on this fry trend looked easy, but it wasn't until I got in there and made a few mistakes that I learned there are some tricks to getting this one right. I used store-bought cookie dough but you could certainly use homemade.

Freezing the dough wasn't included in the TikToks I watched but was an important part of the process because the dough was so soft after rolling out, so trying to coax it into the perfect crinkle shape proved difficult.

We love a kitchen tool that does double duty, so I loved the fact that my crinkle cutter found a new purpose in desserts. A note on your crinkle cutter: the more pronounced, wavy and sharp your cutter is, the better these fries will turn out.

These, of course, taste like chocolate chip cookies but they are DANGEROUSLY snackable because of their size and shape. I'm talking eat-the-whole-package-and-not-even-realize-it because they're just cute little fries. So make them, yes. But proceed with delicious caution.
