It’s not at all uncommon for the internet to be divided over a recipe. People love to post about food and recipes online—and they love to debate the pros and cons of that food even more. One of the viral recipes making the rounds these days is the Round Swamp Farm chicken salad , which has people talking. Chicken salad is one of those classic dishes that inspires a lot of feelings. There are as many chicken salad recipes as there are home cooks, so it's no wonder that the meaty sandwich filling is often up for debate.

Round Swamp's chicken salad got a viral boost from Bethenny Frankel , who is a huge chicken salad fan , especially if it's topped with tobiko (the tiny flying fish eggs). Frankel has signed off on Round Swamp's chicken salad, which has a very finely shredded texture—and a steep price tag. Reports vary and the dish isn't listed on the shop's website , but some creators say that a small container can set you back around $17. Ooof!

The good news is that even if you're nowhere near the Hamptons you can get an idea of what the Round Swamp Farm chicken salad hype is all about. Many creators have whipped up their versions of the viral recipe, including @sendnoods.nyc , who created a very popular copycat recipe after trying the real thing. Here's what you need to know.

This is the best ever copy cat recipe for the iconic chicken salad from round swamp farm in East Hampton. You may have heard Bethany frankle (the chicken salad queen) talk about this legendary chicken salad. The key is using a mixer to shred your chicken into very tiny pieces and grating your celery & garlic clove so they give you the taste without any texture. Imagine chicken salad Pâté but *slightly* more texture than Pâté. Is it exactly the same? No. for that you need the full experience from fighting for your life for a seat on the LIRR, feeling starved because all you had all day was an iced coffee, and then having your friend monica offer you chicken salad… #angel However that being said--- i had the real thing this past weekend and this is prettty close.
Recipe: Ingredients: * 1 roasted organic chicken OR rotisserie chicken * 1 clove garlic * 3/4 cup high quality mayo (I used avocado mayo from @primalkitchenfoods) the mayo amount may differ depending on the sizeof your bird * 1 clove garlic grated finely * 4 stalks celery grated finely (notice my stalks were small so adjust if you have really big celery) * Juice of 1 lemon * 1/2 teaspoon cracked black pepper * 1 teaspoon onion powder * 1 teaspoon hot paprika (not smoked) * 1 teaspoon chili powder * Finally chopped parsley * Salt to taste Directions: - Pull off the white meat from a rotisserie chicken OR roast chicken. I used the roast chicken recipe further down my page :)… and tbh I threw in some dark meat - Put the chicken in a stand or hand mixer to breakdown into very small shreds - Add all other ingredients and combine - Adjust mayo as needed. #easthampton #roundswampfarm #roundswampfarm #chickensalad #bethanyfrankel #bethanyfranklechickensalad

What Makes Round Swamp Farm Chicken Salad Special?

What sets this recipe apart is that it calls for shredding the chicken into tiny pieces in a stand mixe r. The celery and garlic cloves are then grated rather than chopped so that you get the flavor of the ingredients without a ton of texture. Some people are fans of the smooth texture; others not so much.

“Imagine chicken salad pâté but *slightly* more texture than pâté,” Amanda says in the caption of her video. “Is it exactly the same? No.”

According to Amanda, who has tried the salad at Round Swamp Farm, her recipe is as close to the real thing as you can get without hopping on the Long Island City Railroad and buying it directly from the source. And for those trying to decide if Round Swamp Farm chicken salad is delicious or chicken salad paste, you’ll have to try it out at home and decide for yourself.

How to Make Round Swamp Farm Chicken Salad

Start the recipe with a roasted chicken . You can make it at home or pick up one from Costco or your favorite place to grab a rotisserie bird. You'll also need mayo, garlic, celery, lemon juice, black pepper, onion powder, hot paprika (not smoked), chili powder, parsley and salt.

Start by pulling off all of the white meat from the chicken. If some dark meat makes it into the mix, that's totally fine too. Put the chicken in a stand mixer and blend using the whisk attachment until the chicken is broken down into super small shreds. Add the remaining ingredients and stir everything together. Adjust the mayonnaise to taste, season with salt and pepper if needed and dig in.

If this recipe turns out to be right up your alley, you can serve it between two pieces of toast, stuff it in a wrap, serve it with crackers or take a slightly more direct approach and eat it be the spoonful straight from the bowl. You can eat it at room temperature or chilled and the leftovers store well in the fridge, so if you're a fan this might also be your new favorite meal prep recipe.
