In 2023, Taylor Swift catapulted to a new level of fame thanks to her wildly popular Eras Tour and dating Kansas City Chief tight end Travis Kelce . Plenty of celebrities have weighed in on the pop superstar and her career since then—and most recently, Charlamagne Tha God made a bold declaration about Swift and the NFL.

On Monday, Sept. 9, the Breakfast Club co-host reacted to Kendrick Lamar's selection to perform at the 2025 Super Bowl .

"All of y'all upset, just remember one thing that we all can be collectively happy about as a culture. Just be happy we didn't get Taylor Swift," Charlamagne declared . " Thank you Roc Nation for blocking Taylor Swift!'

He continued, "Every year for the last four, five years, I bet you they've been trying to push Taylor Swift down our throats. And Roc Nation said 'No, we going Black!'"

Charlamagne may not be a Swiftie, but plenty of fellow celebrities and professional athletes have spoken out in favor of the "Cruel Summer" songstress in recent years.

During an interview with Variety published on Sept. 8, Elton John lauded Swift's talents when asked whether he'd like to collaborate with her.

“She’s a great songwriter, she’s a great artist and she’s a phenomenon," the "Tiny Dancer" singer said. "I’ve never seen a phenomenon like that since the Beatles, and she works her ass off, so good luck. Good luck to her.”

Meanwhile, former NFL player Nate Burleson sent a pointed message to "grumpy" football fans who are "mad" about Swift appearing in an NFL promo video.

“Get out of your feelings,” the host said on CBS Mornings . "Oh, you’re upset? You’re a little mad ‘cause Taylor Swift is in the promo? Who cares? Wipe the drool off your tank top and put some pants on, and get out of your mama’s basement.”

Opinions about Swift aside, Charlamagne was correct that Black artists have been featured during back-to-back Super Bowl halftime shows for several years. Usher held the honor in 2024, while Rihanna performed in 2023 . In 2022, Snoop Dogg , Dr. Dre , Mary J. Blige and Lamar joined Eminem for an epic show. Meanwhile, The Weeknd performed in 2021 .

We like Kendrick Lamar, but we love Taylor Swift. She has no problem with Lamar doing the halftime show. Let me tell you something. Taylor has done nothing to you, but you are a creep for saying anything negative about her. Taylor Swift loves making music, so grow up.
