Dairy Queen’s Fan-Favorite Treat Returns With a Whole New Look: ‘I Need It’

Dairy Queen fans are ready to 'scream' over a very limited menu update that appears to have quietly rolled out at participating locations in the Midwest and across the East Coast.

Four years ago, the fast food giant first introduced a limited-edition light blue dip inspired by the sweet, fluffy, light-as-air confection known as cotton candy. The baby blue dip became an immediate hit with fans before it quietly disappeared from menus sometime in 2021.

Now, years later, the fan-favorite flavor has returned in some locations but with an entirely new look. Instead of the blue hue, the dip is now light pink in color, as seen in several videos shared to TikTok.

As recently as yesterday, but dating as far back as March of this year, Dairy Queen locations and customers have documented their use of this baby pink cotton candy-flavored magic sauce as a cone dip , a sundae topping and even as the layers of their ice cream parfait –which seems to be a pretty popular order .

While there's been no official mention of reintroducing the menu item on a bigger scale (or at all), food blogger Snackolator suggested the limited availability could be part of a test menu program , and surveyed Instagram users' opinions on whether or not DQ should go through with national rollout.

"Pink cotton candy >>>>>> blue cotton candy," one top-liked comment joked, before another fan agreed, "Definitely prettier in pink 😍😍😍."

"Neeeed [sic] the pink!" a third declared.

"They should do this for breast cancer awareness in October," someone else recommended.

"Scream i need it," a different fan wrote.

So far, it looks like DQ's Cotton Candy flavor is only available at select locations in Michigan and Florida.

It must depend on the location my wife and I got some food from DQ and ended up having to throw it away because it tasted so bad.
