Have you ever had a craving for something wildly unexpected? You know, like sweet corn iced coffee or a chicken and waffle taco complete with a waffle shell, crispy bacon , and a sunny-side-up egg ? Deep-fried cinnamon roll bites stuffed with rich cream cheese frosting, coated in cinnamon sugar, and drizzled with salted caramel, maybe? You get the picture. Of course, the road to a delicious Franken-dessert isn’t necessarily a straight and narrow one, with lots of testing and ideating required before settling on a tantalizing final product. Even Willy Wonka didn’t get it right every time.

But sometimes, we as consumers get to be the unofficial taste testers for imaginative and groundbreaking products that would otherwise be nothing more than scribbles in the margins of a recipe developer's notebook. From bagel and cream cheese-flavored coffee creamer to unexpected, yet intriguing Baja Blast Gelato , there are plenty of thought-provoking, aha-inducing culinary delights to try. So much so, even Costco is getting in on the action.

You might be familiar with El Monterey for their quick and easy frozen burritos , taquitos and delicious mini tacos, but the fan-favorite Mexican-inspired brand just dropped a sweet spin on the typically savory chimichanga with their Raspberry Cheesecake Chimis. Instagrammer @costcobuys shared the frozen treat with fans, and the product in question was met with a mix of emphatic delight, utter disgust and genuine intrigue.

Each box contains 18 chimis made up of cheesecake and raspberry filling wrapped in a golden battered flour tortilla. According to the packaging, these are best enjoyed straight out of the air fryer, and for a little extra razzle dazzle, you can dust them lightly with powdered sugar. In terms of price, a box will set you back a cool $12.89, which works out to just $0.71 cents per chimichanga.

The comments were a mixed bag with one fan saying, “They are ok. Barely any raspberry filling and it is only on one side of the chimi.” A few other commenters echoed the same sentiments, but a good number of shoppers said, “I’ll take 3 dozen 😂😂.”

Although, the jury is still out on whether you can actually call these chimichangas, we’re sure we’ll have an answer for you after we’ve tried our third one. You know, for science.
