Rapper Lil Tay, 17, Provides Health Update From Hospital Following Major Operation

Tay Tian , known professionally as Lil Tay , provided fans with an update on her health after undergoing a major medical procedure.

The rapper, who turned 17 earlier this summer, revealed that doctors diagnosed her “with a life threatening heart tumor” in a video posted on Instagram on Friday, Sept. 13.

A day after her family asked “kindly for everyone’s love and prayers,” the internet personality’s account was updated with another video that provided a new update .

“We are overjoyed to share that Tay’s open-heart surgery was a great success!” the post’s caption said. “We are deeply thankful to her surgeon, cardiologist and the team who are the best in the world!”

In the short video, Lil Tay appeared to be resting as she stretched out in a hospital bed covered with sheets, pillows and a stuffed teddy bear. She was surrounded by beeping monitors that were placed around the head of the small bed.

The video’s caption continued by thanking fans "for the love, prayers, and positive energy you have all sent her way” and their “continued support 🙏❤️.”

“We are off to a great start on the road to recovery,” the caption concluded.

A copy of the message was also shared on Lil Tay’s Instagram Stories. Another message on Instagram Stories followed that reminded fans of the death hoax she was involved in last year.

As fans of Lil Tay might recall, a statement posted on her Instagram account in August 2023 seemingly announced her death. Her family and lawyers disputed the report at the time and shortly afterward, the then-16-year-old resumed her activities on social media.

“💥FOR THE RECORD: This has been confirmed before, but many people still don’t know,” the second announcement began. It then accused Lil Tay’s father of hacking into her social media account and faking her death “as a last attempt to ruin her reputation after losing the court battle over her career and custody.”

“Neither Tay nor her immediate family have anything to do with” her father, the message on Instagram Stories concluded.
