Jane's Addiction Singer Issues Statement Following On-Stage Fight and Tour Cancellation

Perry Farrell , the frontman of Jane's Addiction , shared an apology for his behavior at a recent concert that led to an on-stage fight and the tour's cancellation.

"This weekend has been incredibly difficult and after having the time and space to reflect, it is only right that I apologize to my bandmates, especially Dave Navarro , fans, family and friends for my actions during Friday’s show," Farrell said in a statement shared with Variety . "Unfortunately, my breaking point resulted in inexcusable behavior, and I take full accountability for how I chose to handle the situation.”

The singer didn't share any other details about the situation or his plans for the future.

Farrell's apology comes after he attempted to punch Navarro, the band's guitarist, at a concert in Boston, Mass., leading others to approach Farrell and take him off the stage.

On Sept. 16, a couple of days after the concert, Jane's Addiction shared a message on social media to fans saying, "The band have made the difficult decision to take some time away as a group. As such, they will be canceling the remainder of the tour."

Navarro and the other band members, Eric Avery and Stephen Perkins , shared a more detailed message on their personal accounts about the decision with a joint post, telling fans, "Due to a continuing pattern of behavior and the mental health difficulties of our singer Perry Farrell, we have come to the conclusion that we have no choice but to discontinue the current US tour."

"Our concern for his personal health and safety as well as our own has left us no alternative. We hope that he will find the help he needs," the note continued.

The group had quite a few shows scheduled for the rest of the tour, and it was the first time Jane's Addiction toured with the original members in over a decade.
