Aldi Is Selling a $13 Version of a Popular Kitchen Gadget That's Nearly 7x the Price

The expansive and wondrous world of culinary gadgets and gizmos is filled with items that could be considered frivolous, wildly overpriced and straight-up unnecessary—save for a few handy items like veggie choppers , slow cookers and waffle makers . Sure, we’ve come a long way from the garish and objectively bad "As Seen on TV" infomercial days of our past, and thankfully, devices like the comically worthless Eggstractor have gone to the useless doohickey graveyard. But as far as we’ve come, navigating the minefield of expensive hunks of plastic and bulky countertop appliances is still a dance we have yet to completely master.

Thankfully, we can rely on the sea of brutally honest peer reviews to help us make better-informed decisions about the gadgets we purchase and which ones we leave on the shelf, putting hard-earned cash back in our wallets for whatever must-have doodad crosses our path next. Not every contraption turns out to be a waste of money, though, and these days, it’s not hard to find a device that functions well and is aesthetically pleasing to boot. For example, this Electric Salt and Pepper Grinder Set from CB2 would be a stunning addition to our usual everyday tablescape, but it’s hard to justify spending $89.95 on what’s essentially just fancy salt and pepper shakers.

    Aldi

Of course, you can always count on Aldi to have an equally gorgeous dupe, and you won’t have to shell out more than $12.99 to get it. The Ambiano Electric Gravity Salt and Pepper Mill Set is the perfect mix of form and function and is a beautifully sleek addition to any meticulously landscaped countertop. Each mill boasts an ergonomic bottle-shaped design, making it easy to hold and operate with one hand. The adjustable ceramic grinder allows you to set the coarseness to your preferred needs and taste preferences, and once filled, simply turn it upside down to automatically operate. Included in the set, you’ll also receive two AAA batteries to ensure you’re able to season your food in no time.

Despite the massive discrepancy in price, there aren’t any notable differences between the two sets except for CB2’s walnut accented top versus Aldi’s stainless steel one. Additionally, CB2 offers a variety of colorways while Aldi simply offers classic black and white.

Of course, where you spend your money is entirely up to you, but it’s hard to argue with the fact that you could buy six sets from Aldi before you even come close to the price of one from CB2. You do you though, bestie. I’m sure we’ll run into each other at Aldi.
