There's been a lot to stew on when it comes to The Challenge 40 , especially with the show taking a week off due to the VMAs. A true test of teamwork in the daily showed arguments erupting across Era 1, and Laurel try to get one of her biggest threats into elimination. Laurel faced a bigger foe, though, in Cara Maria, as the two got into a huge argument that reduced the latter to tears. And a hammer proved to be the equalizer for not one, but two elimination upsets, sending champions out of the game.

Who was eliminated on The Challenge 40 tonight?
Emily Schromm
Though she has not been on a Challenge proper season in over a decade, Emily is considered one of the greatest women to ever play. Though not known as a political player, her physique precedes her, as she walked into Season 40 with a perfect elimination record. Unfortunately, it's that reputation that led the rest of the house to take a prime opportunity to take her out when she found herself a target. After not winning the daily, due in part to Laurel's lack of activity, she got thrown into elimination when Nehemiah's wheeling and dealing was outed. Even so, Emily seemed like the odds-on favorite to win nearly any elimination against Tina. Unfortunately, this particular challenge left her as bent out of shape as the nails she was attempting to take out. Emily lost in an elimination stunner, bidding farewell to the game–and her Era 1 hook-up Brad.
Chris "CT" Tamburello
CT is regarded as one of the biggest names in the history of The Challenge , a five-time winner who has become synonymous with the game itself. Due to his veteran status, CT was the backbone of the ailing Era I team, even when he was flat on his back following a trivia injury. So, when he stepped up as a target, he figured, even if he was going into the arena, he'd stand a fair shot of winning. Unfortunately, despite all the "CT Pro Tips" we've received throughout Season 40, there was one tip he didn't remember: How to take out and hammer in nails. It was neck-and-neck between him and Nehemiah. But the latter was able to squeak out a victory, pulling off an upset and sending CT home, devastating Era 1.
Who won the daily challenge on The Challenge 40 tonight?
This week's daily was a test of teamwork, as all four groups worked to navigate an awkward and bulky object through a tree-filled jungle. As Era 1 immediately fell apart, it came down to Eras 4 and 2. But, due in part to Laurel purposely slowing her team down, Era 4 took home the win, earning targets Kyland and Olivia safety
