'Survivor 47' Premieres with a Messy and Unprecedented Meltdown

Jeff Probst welcomed the new castaways of Survivor 47 by talking about the importance of building an on-island community. And, in the premiere of the latest season of the CBS reality juggernaut, we truly saw that take hold. Bonds were formed quickly, with some players getting put immediately on the outs. One person's association with their tribe crumbled around them as they made a post-challenge public outburst. Ultimately, the first person was cast out of their community, crushing their million-dollar dreams.

Who got voted off on Survivor 47 tonight?

Jon Lovett

"I'm sure I have friends and family watching this right now," Jon Lovett told us in his first confessional. "And I'm pretty confident that I know what they want for me from this experience. They want for me to suffer." Fortunately for Jon, he wasn't the person who suffered the most on his tribe. That being Andy Rueda , who formed a close bond with the famous podcaster, only to openly say in a public post-challenge meltdown that he was going to throw him under the bus. Despite Andy being presented as a natural target, the "Pod Save America" host was worried about there being an "unnatural target," working to turn the votes against Anika Dhar . But at Tribal Council, Jon was surprised to find that it wasn't Anika or Andy going, but himself. The rest of the tribe had determined his savviness and lack of comparative strength was enough for them to leave Lovett behind.

Were any advantages found or played in the Survivor 46 premiere?

Yes! Gabe and Rome both found Beware Advantages for their respective tribes. Their tasks involved scouring the island for keys to unlock boxes within a box that would power up their idol. While Rome had yet to unlock his box by the end of the premiere, Gabe chose to power up his idol once, making it good for three Tribal Councils.
