Police are investigating in the wake of a swatting incident at actress Jennifer Aniston 's home in Los Angeles, Calif. Last Friday, the police received a concerning phone call that led them to make a welfare check on the provided address—which turned out to belong to Hollywood star Aniston.

Law enforcement told TMZ that they got a call from someone allegedly concerned about their friend, saying that they were "not doing well" and alluding to depression and other worrying things.

Staying anonymous, the caller requested a welfare check on their "friend," providing an address but no name. As a result, when the police arrived at Aniston's home, both parties were surprised by the situation. The police reportedly arrived not long after midnight and were met by the Morning Show actress' security.

The police noted that this was when they realized whose house they were at, and soon after, they spoke with Aniston and checked on her wellbeing. The 55-year-old clarified that she was fine and there was no chance of her hurting herself, as the caller insinuated.

These sorts of events are known as "swatting," which is a criminal harassment act in which someone makes a false report to the police that leads them to send an emergency response team to the intended victim's home. Along with Aniston, other reported victims of swatting include Justin Bieber , Rihanna , Clint Eastwood , Tom Cruise and more.

After the police clarified the situation with Aniston, they reportedly recorded the actress' address so that, if someone calls about a potential situation there again, they can contact her security before sending resources out. They are also investigating the phone call as swatting after identifying the situation, although no further updates on the case have been shared.
