Mel Gibson's Youngest Kids Lucia, 14, and Lars, 7, Make Rare Public Appearance in New Red Carpet Photos With Dad

It was a family affair for Mel Gibson at the premiere of his new movie, Monster Summer.

The 68-year-old Braveheart star attended the film's Los Angeles screening on Tuesday, Sept. 24, with his two youngest children by his side: Daughter Lucia , 14, and son Lars , 7.

Gibson posed for pics with his arms around his children, wearing a blue blazer with a white button-down shirt, jeans, and black sneakers. Lucia opted for a short red strapless dress, accessorizing with a gold clutch bag, while Lars kept it simple in a white shirt and black pants.

Gibson, who has nine children, shares Lucia with ex Oksana Grigorieva and Lars with current partner Rosalind Ross .

Gibson is also father to daughter Hannah , 43, and sons Christian , 42, Edward , 42, William , 38, Louie , 35, Milo , 33, and Thomas , 25, all of whom he shares with ex-wife Robyn Moore .

Directed by Wizards of Waverly Place alum David Henrie and starring Lorraine Bracco , Abby James Witherspoon (niece of Reese Witherspoon ), Mason Thames , and Noah Cottrell , Monster Summer is the story of a retired police detective (Gibson) who teams up with a group of teenagers to "embark on a monstrous adventure to save their island" after a "mysterious force begins to disrupt their big summer fun," according to the official synopsis .

While public appearances by Gibson are rare these days—with or without his children—the actor also stepped out to support his friend Vince Vaughn at his Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony in August.

Vaughn and Gibson co-starred in the 2019 crime drama Dragged Across Concrete as two corrupt police officers who are put on suspension after an incriminating video of them brutalizing a suspect leaks.
