Kelly Crashes Matt’s Date on TLC’s ‘I Love a Mama’s Boy’ (Exclusive Clip)

What’s more of a red flag? Dating someone who isn’t close to their mother, or dating someone so close to their mother that she tags along to a speed dating event?

On the latest season of I Love a Mama’s Boy , fan favorites Matt and Kelly McAdams are back, and the smothering returns with them. Matt is currently single, and while his mom (and roommate) Kelly wants him to find love, her enthusiasm for his dating life may be doing more harm than good.

TLC shared an exclusive clip of I Love a Mama’s Boy with Parade ahead of the Sept. 30 episode, “The Prince Has Arrived.” Fans are in for a wild ride as Matt’s conversation on a date was promptly interrupted by Kelly.

The protective mom entered the scene with a drink and walked over to Matt and his date, Shanel . She greeted them enthusiastically and complimented Shanel’s manicure, prompting Matt to put his face in his hand before explaining she was his mother.

After an awkward silence, Shanel asked if the two went to the speed dating event together, to which Kelly responded, “We have a close relationship.” Though she then walked away, Kelly didn't go far, watching the rest of the conversation play out from a table a few feet away before a host ushered Shanel away for the next round of introductions.

“It’s a little weird,” Shanel admitted in a confessional, noting that although “Matt’s a cool guy,” Kelly crashing the date “changed the direction” and “messed with his energy.”

“I'm curious to see how it would be if his mom didn't pop up like that,” she mused, sharing that she felt like they had “chemistry and things were going really well” until they were interrupted.
