Al Roker Hints at His 'Today' Retirement Timeline After Hoda Kotb Announces Her Exit

Just after Hoda Kotb 's announcement that she'll be leaving the Today show in early 2025, Al Roker is looking ahead to his own retirement.

The longtime TV personality—who has been a staple on the broadcast for nearly three decades—provided his own timeline for when it may be his turn to hang up his blazer, telling People , "You know when you know."

The publication caught up with the famed weatherman during the Food & Wine Classic in Charleston, which was held Sept. 27-29, 2024.

At the event, Roker further gave insight into how he really feels about his beloved co-anchor's upcoming departure. "That was the kind of the beautiful thing for Hoda," he said, likening the step-down announcement to that of the current president's. "You even look at Joe Biden . It's like, everybody has a reason that they decide it's time to go."

Fans had previously expressed worry over another key member of the popular morning broadcast leaving. One even sent Roker a direct caution in the comment section of his social media post where he addressed his and Hoda's friendship over the years, writing, "Don’t get any ideas Al," in part.

But while stating that he feels everyone knows when their own time has come to exit a situation, he attempted to quiet fans' fears, adding that he doesn't think his own time has come quite yet.

"I don't feel like that's my time yet, but who knows. Maybe a year or two. Maybe not, but I'm enjoying it. I love this," the 70-year-old said. "You don't get off the train until the last stop."
