Charcuterie boards have been around for a while now, but the trend doesn't show any signs of slowing down. And it's easy to see why, these boards are a stylish way to offer a variety of foods for all of your guests. The assortment of cured meats and cheeses , fruits, nuts and spreads like jam and hummus offer a little something for everyone. They’re customizable for different diets, great for seasonal parties and easy to set up for any gathering or even a quick weeknight dinner.

But there's always a new way to upgrade your charcuterie board . At one point, it was all about the salami roses, but most recently we've seen creators, including Marissa Mullen of @thatcheeseplate , bringing a little heat to the party in the form of s avory s'mores . Yes. You read that correctly. Read on for all the cheesy, salty details.

    What Are Savory Smores?

"Move over marshmallows, it’s time for s’morecuterie. Saw this brilliant idea on my explore page (shoutout @_mowglii ) and had to give it a whirl!" Marissa wrote in the caption to the Instagram post.

So what is a s'morecuterie exactly? Basically, it's a savory s'mores made with items you'd find in a charcuterie board. For the version they made in the video, they used mimolette cheese, but just about any melting cheese would work. We can definitely see this being done with Gruyere or cheddar or Baby Bell cheese, like @_mowglii did in her post. Just make sure you use blocks of cheese instead of slices because you'll be melting it over an open flame, just like you do with marshmallows for s'mores.

"Slice a big enough piece so that it stays on the roasting stick, and roast until soft and gooey," Marissa said. They added salami and raspberry jam with the cheese and served it all on a baguette. That sounds absolutely divine, and you can make this any way you want.

We can see this made with smoked cheddar, turkey and jalapeno strawberry jam on a cracker, or some provolone, ham and honey mustard on small slices of sourdough.

"Whyyyyyy have I never thought of this?!" someone commented on the post. It's brilliant!

"Omg where has this been all my lifeeeeee," another person said. That's what we're wondering! It looks amazing.

"I couldn’t love this more," someone else chimed in. This is definitely going on our Fall bucket list.

"Ok we’re obsessed with this," another person added. We are, too! It's a wonderful twist on a classic charcuterie board and you get to have a bonfire, too. What's not to love?
