Ron Hale , who starred as General Hospital's Mike Corbin from 1995 to 2010, has died at the age of 78.

Hale passed away on Aug. 27, 2024, as confirmed in a local South Carolina obituary, though no details surrounding his death were provided.

While the actor, who was born on Jan. 2, 1946, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, was seen across film, television and stage, including in many plays in his brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Kay Thigpen's Columbia’s Trustus Theatre, he is probably best remembered for his work on the long-running soap opera, which also spanned across spin-off Port Charles from 1997-2000. He also spent 14 years as Dr. Roger Coleridge on the soap Ryan’s Hope .

Hale's friend and fellow soap star Billy Warlock , known as Frankie Brady on Days of Our Lives , took to X to mourn Hale's loss, sharing with fans that "we’ve lost another great one." ( General Hospital alone has lost several alumni this year, with four people being arrested in connection with the death of Johnny Wactor this past August. Earlier this year, we also lost Doug Sheehan , Elizabeth MacRae , Meg Bennett , and Robyn Bernard .)

"My dear friend Ron Hale has passed away. Ron was an amazing talent and an even better friend," Warlock continued. "I will miss you."

Hale is survived by his nieces and nephews, Lori Brown (Janet Brabham), Max Brabham, Erin Wilson (Laurens) and Marc Brown (Betsy). Memorial information has been kept private, but fans can visit the Bryant Funeral Home's floral store to send flowers to his family or plant a tree in his memory.
