Fans are assuring Valerie Bertinelli that time hasn’t had a negative impact on her appearance after the TV personality shared a throwback photo of herself as a “little girl” on social media.
The former Valerie’s Home Cooking host pulled an image from the archives for her Instagram post on Thursday, Oct. 3. The black-and-white image, which the Hot in Cleveland star said was taken in 1976, captured a 16-year-old Bertinelli as her acting career was just beginning.

“Glam photo. At 16. Crazy,” Bertinelli, now 64, wrote in her Instagram caption.
The photo showed a teenage Bertinelli looking directly into the camera, her dark hair blowing around her face even as her gaze remained steady and direct. The close-up photo showed Bertinelli from the chest up, though her long locks made it difficult to tell what she had chosen to wear for the photo.
“Sometimes I wish I could go back and tell this little girl to slow down,” Bertinelli reflected in her caption. “It’s okay to slow down.”
Fans were effusive in their response to the throwback photo, with many informing the One Day at a Time alum that the then-and-now transformation wasn’t as drastic as she might think.
“You are as beautiful today as then,” one Instagram user commented, adding that time “goes by so stinking fast.”
“Beautiful then & beautiful now ❤️,” another Instagram user agreed in a comment that was widely echoed among Bertinelli’s social media followers.
