In the wake of the loss of another musical legend, pop star Pink has whipped out another impressive tribute.

Following the death of Kris Kristofferson last week, the "So What" singer incorporated a cover of his song "Me and Bobby McGee," made famous by the late Janis Joplin , into her Summer Carnival tour setlist.

"I think Kris Kristofferson was one of the most amazing humans and I was obsessedā€”I am obsessedā€”with Janis Joplin," she told the audience at her MetLife Stadium concert just outside New York City on Thursday, Oct. 3. "I'm always saying this song is my favorite song, and I would like to honor him. This is Bobby McGee."

The performer and her guitarist, Justin Derrico , took to the end of the catwalk for an acoustic version of the classic trackā€”playing so powerfully that Derrico seemed to damage part of his guitar.

Pink ended the song by pointing at his fretboard and asking him an inaudible question before saying into the mic, "I think your guitar is broken...what happened? We just killed your guitar...?"

The pair also played the track in Hershey, Penn. on Oct. 1, where Pink told the crowd,Ā ā€œI never got the chance to meet Kris Kristofferson, but I know he was one of the few people that was really good to [Janis Joplin] in her life.ā€

ā€œHeā€™s one of my favorite songwriters,ā€ she added. ā€œAnd he will be very, very missed.ā€

The response is reminiscent of Pink and Brandi Carlile's touching tribute to Sinead O'Connor following her death when the latter joined Pink on stage for a cover of "Nothing Compares 2 U."
