Lay’s is no stranger to teasing collaborations with other brands—the snack giant has teased fans with Pepsi-flavored chips as well as a mashup with IHOP that would combine potato chips with the beloved Rooty Tooty Fresh ’N Fruity series.

Now a new teaser is leaving fans both intrigued and apprehensive. Lay’s is considering making a new potato chip that tastes like the popular breakfast cereal Cap'n Crunch, and posted an image of what the chip bag could look like, asking people what they think.

“This one’s for all the Crunchmates. Would you try this Cap’n Crunch® fake flavor?” the brand asked.

Fans were on both sides of the fence about the concept, with some in the resounding positive side, writing “Yes yes yes 🙌💙💛,” while others posted gifs saying “nope” and “that’s nasty.”

However, more seemed to react with enthusiasm, saying “We are totally onboard Cap'n ! 🤠” and that they “Sure would!😆✊🏻.”

“The crossover you never expected 😮,” wrote one fan.

Earlier this year, Lay’s delighted fans when it announced that it was teaming up with the blockbuster sensation Twisters to bring a limited-edition offering.

“For the first time in the brand’s history, Fritos is blending two flavors—Flavor Twists Flamin' Hot and Flavor Twists Ranch into one bag with an exclusive, limited-edition Fritos X Twisters snack," the brand said in a news release, noting that “Even the spiral shape itself is a true 'Twister.”

However, to get access to the snack, fans had to follow Fritos on Instagram, like a specific post and comment with a tornado emoji. No word yet on whether fans will have to jump through the same level of hoops to get their hands on the cereal-flavored chips if they make it to store shelves.
