When it’s time to satisfy that late-night sweet tooth craving, a trip to McDonald’s is never not a good idea. The iconic fast food establishment offers a wide array of desserts, like milkshakes, apple pies and vanilla soft serve, but our go-to McDonald's dessert order is the McFlurry .
You may have hacked the menu at Taco Bell , Chick-fil-A and Panera Bread , but did you know that your favorite McFlurry can be upgraded too? While the typical McFlurry flavor options are Oreo and M&M , there's a simple way to customize your order.
Now a viral trend online, fans everywhere have been opting for an extra squeeze of hot fudge on top of their favorite McFlurry , and we can’t blame them.

How to Upgrade a McDonald's McFlurry
On TikTok, @circlespooon revealed her go-to McFlurry upgrade, which is an Oreo McFlurry topped with a helping of hot fudge . Her post quickly amassed millions of views and thousands of comments in just a handful days.
“This, but with McDonald's caramel sauce instead,” wrote one intrigued commenter. “Why have I never thought of this before,” another chimed in, questioning their own McDonald's life choices. "I'd go one step further and throw in my own gummy worms in the mix for dirt cup dessert vibes," says Parade food editor Justine Lee, "But that's because I'm silly."

The truth of the matter is, upgrading your McFlurry with extra toppings is nothing new. Those who regularly order online have likely seen the “add it on” feature available in the McDonald’s app and other delivery apps too. Customers can trick out their McFlurry orders with hot fudge, caramel and whipped cream. There’s even an option to add M&Ms to an Oreo McFlurry and vice versa. If you’re checking out in person, all you need to do is request the extra toppings. Each added topping is an extra $0.40, which we think is a small price to pay for McFluffy perfection.
We might not be able to enjoy popular international releases like Canada’s new S’mores McFlurry and will need to wait some time for the return of the Shamrock McFlurry but these fun upgrades will keep us satisfied for now.
