If you're like most people and looking for ways to save money on groceries, you have no doubt started buying some store-brand versions of your favorite treats. (Hello, Kroger Private Selection and all things Aldi !) Store-brand foods are almost always cheaper than name-brand, but they don't always look or taste like the "real thing."  Name-brand food brands invest a lot of time and money into creating their signature product, with a specific look, flavor, texture etc. and it can be tough for a store brand to match that specificity.

Sometimes, though, store brands are able to recreate the taste of the original—and there are times they can make a product that consumers prefer. Content creator @morganchompz just shared a Walmart brand breakfast treat that fans say is better than the original, and now we have to get our hands on them.

What's So Great About Walmart Toaster Pastries?

Morgan said that Great Value makes toaster pastries that are better than Pop-Tarts, and fans agree. In the video we saw, she tasted the strawberry-flavored pastries head-to-head to see which one would win.

Great Value, Walmart's store brand, offers a toaster pastry that is very similar to a Pop-Tart, but they only come in select flavors. The regular Pop-Tarts come in a box of eight for $2.62 (about 33 cents each) and the Great Value pastries come in a box of six for $1.18 (about 20 cents each).

Morgan showed the pastries next to one another. The Great Value version had more frosting and sprinkles and the pastry was smoother. They were the same size. but the Great Value version seemed to have more filling and its filling was gooier, making it look more appetizing.

Many people said that despite the limited flavors, they prefer the Great Values toaster pastries over Pop-Tarts because the pastry is crispier. Other people said they'd switch to the Great Value parties completely if they offered more flavors.

"The Walmart brand fudge pop tarts are so much better than brand name," one person commented on Morgan's Tiktok video.

"I definitely prefer the Walmart brand pop tarts over the name brand," another person said.

"Great Value brown sugar cinnamon, are a lot better than Pop-Tarts," someone else said.
