    Hurricane Milton made landfall in Florida on Wednesday, Oct. 9 as a Category 3 storm, bringing intense rain and wind to the area. Milton eventually exited the state as a Category 1 storm early Thursday morning.

    As people continue tracking Milton while it moves away from the state of Florida, many are wondering what sort of damage it left in its wake. In particular, some people are concerned about theme parks like Disney World and how they are faring now.

    Is Disney World open after Hurricane Milton?

    The Walt Disney World theme parks, water parks, Disney Springs, transportation services and more are all closed on Thursday, Oct. 10. This includes the scheduled Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party that was set for Thursday night, with all guests to get refunds for their tickets.

    On Oct. 9, as Orlando, Fla. awaited Milton's arrival, Disney announced the closure of all of the parks, Disney Springs, transportation, and some resorts, noting that Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground and the Treehouse Villas at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa were closed and expected to stay that way until Sunday, Oct. 13.

    When will Disney World reopen?

    According to its website, Walt Disney World theme parks, Disney Springs "and possibly other areas will reopen on Friday, Oct. 11. People should keep a close eye on the official Disney website for future updates.

    While Disney World was hit with strong winds and heavy rain from Hurricane Milton, the parks did not experience any flooding.

    Disney shared that anyone with multi-day tickets that were partially used before the storm would have an amended expiration date extended to Oct. 11, 2025.

    For people with a trip set for the week of Hurricane Milton, Disney's hurricane policy states, "If a hurricane warning is issued by the National Hurricane Center for the Orlando area—or for your place of residence—within 7 days of your scheduled arrival date, you may reschedule or cancel your Walt Disney Travel Company Disney Resort hotel packages and most room only reservations (booked directly with Disney) without any cancellation or change fees imposed by Disney."

    The company noted that the policy doesn't apply to some special events or dining experiences, and guests are directed to call (407) 939-7675 if they have questions or need help.

    Is Universal Studios open after Hurricane Milton?

    Universal Studios Florida, Universal Islands of Adventure, Volcano Bay and Universal CityWalk are all closed on Thursday, Oct. 10 . The theme park also canceled Thursday's Halloween Horror Nights, while the park's hotels will remain open for guests.

    The Universal Orlando Resort offerings, including Halloween Horror Nights, are expected to be open again on Oct. 11, according to an update from the resort.
