Liza Minnelli, 78, Stuns in Sheer Glitzy Top During Rare Public Appearance

Liza Minnelli , the daughter of Judy Garland and acclaimed actress and singer in her own right, arrived at the Gala of the Stars event in Beverly Hills on Wednesday, Oct. 10, looking like an icon as she was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award.

The 78-year-old looked energized as she rocked an elegant outfit, wearing black velvet pants and a glittery black sheer top. She added a gold statement necklace, bracelets and earrings along with bright nail polish.

The Cabaret star lounged in a chair for photos, even throwing her head back with a laugh as she put a leg over the arm of the chair in one snap. Minnelli later went on stage to accept her award, smiling brightly in photos as she addressed the audience.

Also at the event were stars like Tori Spelling , JoJo Siwa and Paula Abdul , the last of whom was honored with the first-ever Paula Abdul Legacy Award.

Minnelli has been quite busy this year, recently announcing via Instagram that she joined DRAG: The Musical as a producer. She said in a message as she shared the news, "Life is just a bowl of cherries and Kids, I’m really popping as the newest producer of 'DRAG: The Musical'."

"I’ve partnered with exceptional Producers Tomas Costanza, Scott Prisand, Matt Weaver and Tristan Schukraft and you’ll get to experience me at every show. Yes, every show! We’re breaking box office records and were sold out last night," she wrote in the post shared on Oct. 1.

Fans were so excited by the news, with emotional replies like, "When they announced this last night at first preview, I sobbed in my seat," and "I didn’t think I could possibly love you more… I WAS WRONG!"

The show began previews at the New World Stages theater in September and officially opens on Oct. 21.
