Savannah Guthrie isn't quite ready for co-anchor Hoda Kotb to depart from her spot at the Today show.

The NBC personality opened up about the tidal wave of emotions she felt after Kotb shared the update to her career two weeks ago.

"Well, I would say I was shocked but not surprised because she and I have had many, many conversations about life and what does it mean in our hopes and our dreams, and I knew that 60 was a big moment and where she's thinking a lot about just how she wants to spend the rest of her day," she explained in an interview with People published on Friday, Oct 11. "So I wasn't surprised."

"But then when it happened, of course, I was happy for her because I think it's so courageous and bold and amazing and this mode of confidence in herself and her bright future that she's writing, and she's writing it," Guthrie added.

"It's not like she knows, ‘Oh I'm going to this job. I'm going.' She doesn't know, but she knows what she can do and I love that." Guthrie admitted. "I'm inspired by that."

"And of course I'm also sad because I love her so much and if I had it my way, we'd be together forever," the 52-year-old co-anchor boldly declared .

Despite the bittersweet goodbye, Guthrie said she "will hold it down."

"I got my Carson [Daly] and Craig [Melvin ]. The whole crew ," she gushed.

As for who could possibly replace Kotb in future episodes of the show , an official announcement has not yet been made. However, there's still time for the network to decide as the doting mom of two suggested that the morning talk show will be running business as usual for the next few months, as she doesn't plan to step away from the Today desk until sometime in early 2025.
