Kelly Clarkson Fans Are ‘Calling to Report a Robbery’ After ‘Beyond Magnificent’ Cover Performance

Kelly Clarkson covered yet another one of Chappell Roan’s songs on the most recent episode of her NBC talk show, and fans are here for the ongoing tribute to the 26-year-old hitmaker.

The American Idol winner performed a “Kellyoke” cover of Roan’s “Coffee” on The Kelly Clarkson Show last month and also recently teamed up with Miranda Lambert for a performance of Roan’s “Good Luck, Babe!” Fans gave both renditions a “10/10,” and the latest cover received just as much praise.

On Friday, Oct. 11, the “Since U Been Gone” singer took to the stage on her show to perform Roan’s “My Kink Is Karma.” Like “Coffee,” the song was included on Roan’s 2023 album The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess .

Dressed in jeans and a brown Johnny Cash T-shirt, the 42-year-old delivered a blistering performance of the track, bringing emotion to each and every one of the lyrics. After Clarkson’s show posted a video of the “Kellyoke” performance on Instagram , fans immediately began demanding more covers of Roan’s hit songs.

“Please keep singing Chappell songs!!!” one fan begged as another asked, “At this point can we just get the cover album please?!”

“Kelly singing Chappel’s entire discography is what I’m here for,” one Instagram user declared.

“This song has BEEN Kelly clarkson coded from the moment it came out. AMAZING. 🔥,” another Instagram user wrote as one person observed that the song was a "so insanely perfect” fit for the “Stronger” singer.

Some Roan fans who noticed a slight alteration to one of the lyrics—in her second time singing the line in question, Clarkson changed “you dyeing your hair” to “you dyeing your beard”—suggested it was a subtle message from Clarkson, who as recently as this year was involved in a lawsuit against her ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock .

“Changing the lyric to ‘dying your BEARD’ is Queen/Icon level behavior right there. 👏Yes👏Ma’am🔥🔥🔥,” one fan applauded while another said, “I think that lyric change was personal… 🫣.”

Others heaped praise upon Clarkson for her “freakin unreal” performance, with one person wondering, “literally how does she do it.”

“‘Hi 911? Calling to report a robbery. Yes, Kelly Clarkson just stole Chappell Roan’s song. Yes, that’s correct. …Hello?’ 🫠,” one Instagram user joked.

“Honestly you have one of the best voices of this generation,” one fan informed Clarkson while another dubbed her “the best singer in the game !”
