Tammy Slaton’s doctor said he was “not surprised” by the progress that the 1000-Lb Sisters star has been making lately as she works toward reaching her weight loss goals.

Slaton, 38, has made several lifestyle changes since the TLC show first began airing in 2020. Back in August, she revealed in a post on social media that she lost 500 pounds in all, a stunning update that her fans applauded at the time.

In a clip from a forthcoming episode of 1000-Lb Sisters , Slaton’s bariatric surgeon, Dr. Eric Smith , was filmed reacting to one of the reality TV personality’s weight loss developments during an appointment with his patient. People obtained the preview clip ahead of the new episode’s Tuesday, Oct. 15, scheduled air date and published it on Friday, Oct. 11.

Slaton explained in the video that she was “extremely nervous” to attend the appointment, as Smith had challenged her to lose 100 pounds when she’d seen him nine months earlier. At that previous appointment, Slaton weighed “around 420 pounds,” she noted. Slaton also identified her “rock bottom” weight as being around 725 pounds a couple of years earlier.

When Slaton weighed in at her new appointment at just over 303 pounds, Smith described his patient’s progress as “unbelievable” and told Slaton that she looked “awesome.”

“I surpassed Dr. Smith’s goal, my goal, all the goals,” Slaton said in the preview clip. “I am so ready for skin removal.”

Speaking separately with People about the scene in the new episode, Smith said he was “absolutely thrilled for Tammy and incredibly proud” of the progress she has made, though he added he was “not surprised” that she’d met the goal he’d set out for the appointment shown in the clip. Slaton is “truly committed to her health journey,” he declared.
