Darius Rucker Makes a Bold Declaration After Face Planting Mid-Concert

During a Saturday, Oct. 12 concert in his hometown of Charleston, S.C., Hootie & the Blowfish frontman took an unfortunate tumble while singing his solo hit "Alright," and fans got a huge kick out of his reaction.

In a video clip shared to TikTok , the 58-year-old singer seemed to trip on a monitor before falling forward onto the floor. After getting to his feet, Rucker cracked a joke at his own expense.

"I'm old as f--k," he said.

As People reported, Rucker referenced the fall again after finishing the song.

"We've been doing this all summer. I hadn't fell once. But I busted my a-- in my hometown," he said.

Commenters were impressed with humorous way Rucker handled the situation.

"The way he was still singing as he went down," wrote one person.

"If this singing thing doesn't work out he's got a career in comedy," suggested another TikTok user.

"I have watched this at least 100 times," admitted someone else.

"at least we know that mic is on," pointed out a fourth person.

Rucker made headlines in June when he shared his opinion of Taylor Swift in an interview with Newsweek . The rock/country star admitted that when he first saw Swift perform in 2007, in his mind, she was “just a baby," adding that she's handling her career “the right way” with “great music and great shows.”

“I’m just so happy for her I can’t stand it,” he said.
