Ozzy Osbourne Breaks Silence After 'Senseless Act' Lands His Former Guitarist in the ICU

Ozzy Osbourne has spoken out after learning that his former guitarist, Jake E. Lee , was shot in Las Vegas.

The Black Sabbath singer issued a statement to TMZ after news broke that his ex-colleague had been shot multiple times early in the morning on Tuesday, Oct. 15, while walking his dog.

“It’s been 37 years since I’ve seen Jake E. Lee, but that still doesn’t take away from the shock of hearing what happened to him today," Osbourne said, calling the attack "another senseless act of gun violence."

"I send my thoughts to him and his beautiful daughter, Jade . I just hope he’ll be ok,” he concluded.

According to the publication, Lee was awake and "doing well" following his injuries, which landed him in the ICU at a local hospital. It's unclear if his dog was injured in the attack, which investigators are currently treating as a "completely random" event, rather than one specifically targeting the musician.

Lee joined Osbourne's band as lead guitarist in 1982, after Randy Rhoads was killed in a plane crash at 25 while on tour with the "Crazy Train" singer. He was unexpectedly fired by Osbourne's wife and manager, Sharon Osbourne , in 1987, and went on to form a band of his own, Badlands, before playing with a variety of other acts.

In an interview with Border City Rock Talk earlier this year , Badlands bassist Greg Chaisson revealed that Lee suffered from carpal tunnel syndrome in his right wrist, causing pain while playing the guitar. As a result, he took a step back from performing while awaiting corrective surgery. It's unclear if he's received that surgery yet.
