Serena Williams Shares Serious Health Update in Revealing Video

Serena Williams is opening up about the medical journey she's been on lately.

In a new TikTok video , the legendary tennis champion revealed that she recently underwent a surgical procedure to remove a cyst from her neck.

Sharing vulnerable footage from the hospital in her TikTok post on Tuesday, Oct. 15, Williams could be seen laying in a hospital bed while explaining to viewers in a voiceover what exactly was going on.

"Back in May I found a lump showing on my neck," she wrote in the caption on her video. "I immediately went to the doc got a mri and was told I have a brachial cyst. Have you ever heard of that?"

"They said I don’t need to get it removed if I don’t want. So I did not get it but it kept growing," Williams, 43, continued, while explaining, "I decided to get more test[s] and 3 test and one biopsy later everything is still negative but doctors advised I get it removed asap because it was the size of a small grapefruit and it could get infected or worse leak."

"So this is me removing it," she wrote next to the raw footage, which showed her wincing it pain while doctors treated her after the procedure.

"I am feeling so grateful, and fortunate everything worked out, and most of all I’m healthy," the athlete added.

By the end of the clip, Williams could be seen taking a trip to the American Girl Doll store with her daughter Olympia , 7, even though she said she was "suffering" through her recovery at the same time.

"But mom has to keep showing up," she insisted before the video ended.

"I still made it to American doll with Olympia as promised," she concluded in the caption, while ensuring fans, "And yes all is ok. 🙏🏿🙏🏿."
