'Law & Order: SVU' Fans 'So Excited' Over Mariska Hargitay's Pics With Returning Character

Mariska Hargitay just shared a series of new photos posing with her returning co-star, Kelli Giddish , and fans are so here for it.

On Thursday, the official Instagram account for the NBC crime drama and its leading lady shared a joint post promoting the latest episode of the show's new season , which premiered on Oct. 3 .

Hargitay had previously shared a sweet snap of the two mid-hug and overwhelmed with emotion, but now we're seeing them back in action. In this latest set of images, Hargitay, 60, and Giddish, 44, were in character, dressed as Captain Olivia Benson and Sergeant Amanda Rollins while on the set of the long-running TV series.

"Benson & Rollins are back on the case. ❤️," the caption gushed.

"So excited," one fan replied. " SVU Thursdays."

"Two icons," a second declared of the images. "Two pillars of television."

"Besties back together 💙💙," someone else raved.

"Should have never let Kelli leave !" another exclaimed.

Parade only recently chatted with Giddish , who, at one point during the conversation, suggested there was an awkward adjustment for her and the rest of the SVU cast when she did return .

"We just had to go back in the script sometimes because both of us, all of us, were saying Detective Rollins," she revealed. "And we're like, 'Ugh, she's a sergeant now, can we go back?' Okay, this is Sergeant Rollins. It's just hard to remember! That's all it is."

New episodes of Law & Order: SVU air on Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET on NBC.
