‘Top Gear’ Star Jeremy Clarkson Rushed Into Serious Surgery After ‘Sudden Deterioration’ of Health

Jeremy Clarkson , well-known TV host and star of Top Gear for over a decade, faced a serious health situation recently when he was rushed to the hospital following concerning symptoms.

The 64-year-old recounted the difficult experience in a new column for The Sunday Times , describing how he started struggling with his physical health while on a recent vacation.

"Back at home, though, the sudden deterioration began to gather pace," he continued. "I woke on Wednesday morning not feeling too good. I was clammy and there was a tightness in my chest...I noticed that I had pins and needles in my left arm."

After this, Clarkson was rushed to the hospital in an ambulance and doctors began conducting a bunch of tests, eventually concluding that he was not having a heart attack —at the moment.

Clarkson recounted what the doctors found out, writing, "It seems that of the arteries feeding my heart with nourishing blood, one was completely blocked and the second of three was heading that way."

As a result, the doctors put Clarkson through a surgery that essentially, as he said, used rods "and some ultrasonic battering rams to loosen [the arteries] up before inserting a stent." The 64-year-old was able to return home the next morning, and he wrote the article as he reflected on the possibility that he could've suffered a heart attack if not for the warning signs.

Clarkson seemed to feel thankful for the situation, saying, "I certainly wasn’t having a heart attack. But if it hadn’t looked that way, I never would have been sent to hospital."
