Ariana Grande is no stranger to getting into hot water—the pop star has made waves about her tumultuous love life for years, and though it’s been almost a decade, many haven’t forgotten the unfortunate donut licking incident of 2015 .
Now, the “7 Rings” singer may be facing more allegations of diva behavior after another pop culture icon detailed an interaction that left some fans thinking “we can’t be friends” with Grande.

Spooky season legend Elvira, Mistress of the Dark recently gave fans some behind-the-scenes access to her illustrious career, participating in a Q&A session at Knott’s Scary Farm, the seasonal Halloween event at Knott's Berry Farm in Buena Park, Calif., on Oct. 18.
During the conversation, Elvira was asked about some of her experiences meeting celebrities, and after someone in the audience shouted out “Ariana Grande,” she held nothing back as she explained what happened when she met the “thank u, next” songstress.
Elvira shared that Grande went to one of her events “and she brought 20 guests. So she wanted 21 tickets… and we gave her the tickets,” she began. “She comes backstage and she asked if I could take pictures with all of her friends and relatives she brought.”
The story continued, with Elvira saying that she took “a picture with every single one of them. I sign autographs for every single one of them. Then I say to her ‘can we take a photo together?’ and she goes ‘no, I don’t really do that.’”
At that point in the Q&A, the audience began to boo at Grande’s dismissal of Elvira. The boos continued when she then told them that Grande “left before my show started and all of the relatives stayed.” Another person on the panel then quipped that the singer “is playing the wrong witch,” referencing her upcoming role as Glinda the Good Witch in the film version of the Broadway musical Wicked .
A fan account posted the conversation on TikTok , and commenters were quick to voice their opinions.
“I don't think Ariana understands that when her and Elvira are in a room, Elvira is the celebrity, not her,” said one fan, while another chimed in, writing “Anyone should be HONORED to take a photo with Elvira.” “I mean it was disrespectful to do after she asked her to do so much, that’s my point,” commented another fan.
One fan said, “I don't trust anyone that won't take a photo with Elvira if offered,” another commenter agreed, writing, “I’m sorry, who passes up an opportunity to have a picture with THE ELVIRA?!?!😱,” while a third said, “The audacity after sponge bob & the donuts😳😳😳.”
In 2023, Grande entered into a romantic relationship with her Wicked co-star, Ethan Slater , who played SpongeBob Squarepants in the Broadway musical by the same name, shortly after he separated from his wife of four years and less than a year after the birth of their first child. The relationship also coincided with Grande’s split from her husband, real estate agent Dalton Gomez . Grande addressed some of the rumors that the relationship started while she and Slater were both still in their previous relationships in her latest album, Eternal Sunshine .

But back to the Elvira drama—not all fans believed the Halloween queen’s story, and rushed to defend Grande in the TikTok comments. “the way ariana never denies a picture… this seems fishy like what 😭,” wrote one fan, while another said, “I’m not buying it.”
More wrote in to say that the whole thing seemed suspicious, as “that doesn’t seem like her 😭 ariana had always said yes to pics with paparazzi and fans,” and asking, “Is this like fr though cause when does Ariana not take a picture with someone…??”
Others gave reasons for why the interaction may have played out that way, writing, “i feel like ari took her friends and family as a gift or something and she didn’t want to take pictures at the time,” wondering, “if Ariana didn't want people to know she was there for some reason,” and asking, “Maybe it was a misunderstanding?”
