Horses. They're highly intelligent, wonderful animals. They were cars before cars were cool. They were pets. They're a vital part of just about every farm: if you have farm animals, you usually have a horse.

Horses are also hilarious, even though they don't really even mean to. They're just horsing around, and it's so effortlessly funny it makes even those who are a little scared of them laugh. For example, this video from Friday, July 12th, when three horses were bested by a kiddie pool:

These Critter Chronicles are never boring. Life with 3 horses must just be a party every single day!

These three horses are named Wyatt, Shakespeare, and Tru. They've spent some time with this kiddie pool since this video was released, notably to bob for apples. Pools are not only a good way to beat the heat for your house animals, they're also a great way for more "unconventional" animals, like livestock to cool off and have fun. While not every farm animal is going to want to go for a full-on swim, they might want a drink, or they might even try to splash around!

    Horses Often Love to Swim

As weird as it may seem, a lot of horses love the water. They enjoy both swimming in deep water and wading through shallow pools; it keeps them cool and provides a very satisfying sensory experience. A swim is a great way for horses to stay active, even when they're not feeling too hot.

Additionally, water is used often in physical therapy exercises to help horses who have sustained injuries. The water offers resistance that is great for strengthening the muscles, but it also "cushions the landing," if you will. When a horse wades through the water, there is less hard impact with each step, so it's easier on aching joints or injured hooves.

Water is also a great asset to racehorses in training because of the low impact; their handlers want them to save their hooves for the track, so they do a lot of in-water running. The only thing that horses don't like (and really, can't do) is swim underwater. As long as they can keep their heads up, they'll be just fine. Unless the pool isn't big enough to fit them, in which case they just drink out of it, like these clowns. You can lead a horse to water, but...
