Being upset when playdates end is just a part of life. Sometimes, we're just having so much fun that we don't want it to stop, and that's okay. Unfortunately, though, all good things end, and we have to go home.

Well... not if one Golden Retriever has anything to say about it. On Monday, July 29th, grandma showed up to take her dog back home, and the resident Golden Retriever put up one good fight. Honestly, it looks like she might have won:

Silly Tilly, it's time for your bestie to go home! Rumor has it grandma is still trying to get him in the car!

Tilly is the Golden Retriever in this video, and her bestie, Oats, looks like an English Springer Spaniel. They really do make a gorgeous pair: no wonder they want to stay together. They probably haven't taken enough selfies!

For sweet, almost two-year-old Tilly, she's definitely not of bestie time. Oats belongs to her grandma, and she gets to see him all the time. It must not be enough, though, because she pulls out her best move: the Retrieve. It's what she knows best, and really, what she was bred for. However, her soft jaws make her grip a bit easy to get out of, so Oats ended up going home with grandma shortly after this. She'll get to see him again soon!

Do Dogs Really Have 'Best Friends?'

Humans have at least one bestie, if not more, and we tend to have different besties at different stages of life. Regardless, when we think of our dogs, we tend to think of ourselves as their besties, not other dogs.

Dogs definitely do bond with other animals, and not even just the other dogs who live in their home. Your dog may build a friendship with other dogs at the dog park, daycare, or even just walking along on the street. They're pack animals, which means they're drawn to each other! Even if a dog doesn't see their "best friend" very often, they'll remember them and get excited to see them every time!

It's totally fine to let your dog make friends with other dogs, as long as their human is okay with it. Who knows, you might make a friend, too! Dogs will often make friends with dogs that are similar to themselves, but there's no "limit" as to who your dog will choose for a friend. It just kind of happens, and that's how you end up with some of the sweetest big/little dog combos. Hopefully Tilly has friends other than Oats, and hopefully they make playing just as fun as he does!
