Newfoundland Is Heartbroken When He Realizes Company Didn't Come To Play With Him

When visitors stop by, dogs seem to always think they're there for them and only them. To be fair, dog lovers will go just about anywhere to hang out with a pup, and we're so in! But in this circumstance, Chewy the Newfoundland's dreams are dashed almost immediately when the company comes and goes without paying the Chewy tax, and he's a little upset over it.

Chewy's antics have been public for a while, but this recent video his parents shared on TikTok (via @chewythenewfie ) has us in our feelings. His heartbroken expression says it all. Poor Chewy!

"He thinks they're here to play, but they're just passing through," the caption says as Chewy watches a few teen girls pull into the drive to come into the house. He can't contain his excitement or his wagging tail over the mere thought they came just to see him.

But then, things take a turn. The girls leave, waving goodbye while poor Chewy tries to understand what the heck just happened. They were supposed to play with him! Chewy throngs of fans are rallying for the Newfie, and rightfully so!

"You get the. back right now to play with that floof," one person demanded. "Put in a new rule. They must pay the Chewy playtime toll in order to proceed," another wrote. "I would lay down and let that dog smother me with his fur before I left him looking sad," another added, and so would we!

Newfoundlands Love Attention

Like Chewy, Newfoundlands are adorable, and they absolutely crave attention. Lums Pond Animal Hospital explains Newfies are a perfect family dog because they're affectionate, lovable, and easygoing. However, they also need frequent attention from their family and can show signs of separation anxiety if they're left alone too much. After seeing Chewy's disappointment, it's not much of a shocker, right? These gentle giants love people so much!

That said, this large, intelligent, people-oriented breed is an amazing companion who's good with other pets and children due to their calm and loyal nature. So don't let their need for attention derail you from adopting. If anything, it's a pro, not a con because they want to be with their people.

Even though Chewy didn't get the playtime he believed he was owed, Mom later noted in the comments the sad pup got to go see his favorite person (Grandma) after the girls left, so everything is right in the world.
