Border Collie Goes Through Every Emotion As She Gets More and More 'Deranged'

Dogs are absolutely bonkers crazy, there's no two ways about it. No matter what kind of dog you have or how well you've trained them, they will be the most unhinged individual in the world at least once in their lives. It's just who they are.

If you don't believe that, you should check out this video posted recently by a slightly concerned Border Collie dad. Treat it like a staring contest (you'll lose):

My favorite part of this is that her display name is "Cobalt the Dog?" because her dad swears there's no way she's just all dog. There has to be some cryptid in there somewhere!

Cobalt is a very sweet dog. Her stare might cut through people's bones, but she loves her family, and she only stares at them like that because she loves them. And because she's a Border Collie - they really like to stare at stuff. They're herding dogs and their instincts tell them never to take their eyes off the herd! They can go a while without blinking. It's weird.

Cobalt isn't even a working herder: she likes to herd her loved ones, but they've never put her to work doing it. It could be part of why she's so deranged: she doesn't have any idea how to get her herding feelings out, so she just makes everyone a little queasy instead. If it works for her, it works!

    Border Collies Can Be Crazy

Border Collies are incredible dogs, and no one in the world would deny that. They're highly intelligent, fiercely loyal, and always willing and ready to learn. However, their "default settings," if you will, can make them a little wild. Even if a Border Collie is not trained to herd, they're still going to want to run and herd instinctually.

Being that they're so intelligent, a Border Collie who isn't trained properly may take their energy out on you, their siblings, or your home. The can be destructive, and they can (and will) escape from yards or homes if you don't properly secure them. Even if you're not going to use a Border Collie as a working dog, it's a good idea to give them rigorous and even professional training regardless. They thrive with routine, regular exercise, and structure.

Though, nothing will ever stop that thousand yard stare. Border Collies love to watch, and to close their eyes is to take a break. They want nothing to do with that!
