Some people's trash is another person's treasure. Just as Leia, a silly cat who knows how to have a good time all by herself—with cardboard boxes.

In a recent TikTok video posted by Alicia Winterboer ( @aliciaaspen ), Leia doesn't care how much money was spent on toys. She's purrfectly content with the boxes they came on. Period. Watch her hilarious playtime below!

"Swear she likes cardboard boxes more than the toys we bought her," the caption says. In the funny video, Leia, queen of the trash heap, lays on various brown papers and knocks over cardboard boxes all laid out just for her. Sure, these are merely the containers the toys came in, but that's everything she wanted and more!

This clip struck many of Leia's followers. It seems many people have similar stories about cats and their favorite trash!

"I have to hide these from my cleaning lady because she thinks they're trash. 'That's my babies’ toys!'" another added.

"Every Costco trip is a new box in the living room for my sons to play with," another said.

Cardboard boxes for cats are universal. Every cat parent does whatever it takes to keep their cats from getting bored, and it doesn't matter they use actual trash or not!

Why Do Cats Like Boxes and Crinkly Things?

Leia isn't the first or last cat to discover her love of Mom's trash. As naturally curious animals, cats love exploring different textures and spaces. PetMD explains cats are drawn to boxes because they're safe and cozy, provide warmth, and can also be used to hide while practicing their innate need to hunt.

They might even make it their little kingdom when needing to escape conflict with other housemates. Plus, boxes are just plain fun stress relievers, so of course, they're drawn to them.

With crinkly things, it could be the unusual sound, which can mimic natural prey in the wild. That can trigger their predator instinct, which can also be fun. And while they might play with noisy paper for attention, they could also associate the noise with getting food from a cat food bag.

Whatever the reason cats love to play with packaging instead of actual toys doesn't matter. It's their world, and we just exist in it!
