Whether you're a proud Mastiff parent or not, this video is bound to melt your heart. We can't get over how sweet this pair is!

Just the other night, English Mastiff Bear and his fellow pup were sitting on the living room couch. While this might seem like a typical evening in a dog-filled household, these pups are anything but ordinary. Bear and his pal were sitting upright, practically like humans, with their backs on the couch and feet dangling over the cushions. And as adorable as that sight was, that was hardly the best part of the night.

Watch below as Bear's human, who runs the Instagram page @brindlebearthemastiff , captured something hilarious on video.

    How cute is that?

If you can't quite hear the sound of the video since it's pretty quiet, we'll break down what happened.

While the two pups were sitting on the couch "watching TV' with the rest of their family, one of the male voices on TV, probably either a news anchor or an actor, said the magic word: sit.

Without missing a beat, both dogs immediately turned their heads directly to the TV, sighed, and tucked their front paws underneath their chests to lie down on the couch. They thought he was talking to them!

Our favorite part is when the man first says the word "sit," the pups look around with confusion on their faces, as if to say, "We are sitting!" But then they quickly move to lie down, hoping that's what he wanted instead.

This video perfectly exemplifies the patience and charm of the Mastiff breed. While they might look intimidating, they're anything but.

    Why We Love Mastiffs

There are a myriad of reasons to adore this gentle giant, but these three characteristics are too sweet to ignore.

    1. Good with kids

Due to the Mastiff's larger size, it is recommended for these pups to co-exist with slightly older children . While they are not aggressive, Mastiffs are big and could easily knock over a smaller child. With older kids, however, this breed has a calm and gentle presence and can enjoy playing games like fetch.

    2. Affectionate

As long as a Mastiff is socialized early on in their life, they're incredibly gentle and affectionate with family . Despite their larger size, this breed is cuddly and will typically want to sleep in your bed instead of their own. Get ready for all of the welcoming tail wags when you get home!

    3. Protective

Mastiffs are well known for their protective nature , as they are typically cautious around strangers and can be territorial. They've been trained as guard dogs throughout the years and have protective instincts even without specific training.

Mastiffs listen to direction even when it comes from a voice on the TV. That's just one of the many reasons why we love them so much!
