Have you ever watched a Disney movie and fallen in love with someone other than the main character? There are so many cute, funny, clever, and positively heartwarming Disney animals who could totally hold their own in a leading role!

We've rounded up some of the beloved critters in our favorite Disney movies and television shows who truly deserve their time to shine in the spotlight. After checking out this list, you'll totally agree!

Disney Characters Who Deserve Their Own Spin-Off

    1. Abu from "Aladdin"

First on our list is Aladdin’s beloved partner-in-crime, Abu. This mischievous monkey is as brave and loyal as he is an absolute terror. Honestly, he’d be perfect for a spin-off featuring Indiana Jones-esque heists! Imagine him sneaking across the rooftops of Agrabah and beyond, snatching shinies right from under the nose of the ‘bad guys.' It would be great! Plus, with guest appearances by everyone from Aladdin and Jasmine to Genie, Rajah, and Iago, there’s so much room for plenty of hilarious moments.

    2. Sven from "Frozen"

Sven has to be one of the most endearing critters we’ve seen in a movie, ever. His silent hilariousness and expressive reindeer face are a combo that can’t be topped. We could totally see him as the lead in a snowy adventure all across Arendelle. He could do anything from discovering the secrets of reindeer in the frozen North to forming new friendships with the magical creatures in the once-locked-off forests featured in the second movie.

    3. Dug from "Up"

No list of beloved Disney characters who deserve a spin-off would be complete without the ultra-lovable Retriever, Dug. He’s already got a leg up, thanks to his talking collar, which would let us hear about his… unique perspective on the world. A Dug show would feature his seemingly never-ending energy combined with an innocence that would likely get him in all sorts of wacky hijinks and crazy situations. He’d probably get out of every single one by making a new friend, but hey, we’d be here for it!

    4. Hei Hei from "Moana"

If you want a spin-off with slapstick humor from start to finish, then one featuring Hei Hei, the hilariously clucky chicken, would nail it. Picture the Three Stooges, except all in the body of one chicken as he bumbles his way through all sorts of different, increasingly weird, predicaments. Plus, you’ve got the backdrop of the gorgeous seas and islands from the film, all sorts of gods, goddesses, sea creatures, and monsters alike. This show pretty much writes itself!

    5. Maximus from "Tangled"

Next, let’s go a bit bigger—a lot bigger. Maximus is the massive white stallion from Frozen who is so over everyone (we feel you, Max). But he keeps going and going, totally determined to see his mission through. A series with Maximus at the helm would see us follow him through his life as a royal guard horse, meaning we’d probably get all sorts of thrilling chase scenes (regardless if the bad guy is actually bad or not) and daring dos. It would be perfect for kids and adults who like a bit of adventure with their laughs.

    6. Mushu and Cri-kee from "Mulan"

The team-up between Mushu and Cri-kee is an unlikely partnership, but hear us out. Set in the backdrop of Ancient China, you’d get to watch the pair set out on quests filled with all sorts of mythical beasts and legendary trials. Mushu, the more daring of the two, provides the comic relief, while Cri-kee could play the more timid straight man (but, honestly, he’s making all the plans work)! It would be a cool way to take a look at ancient history, even as we get a perfect blend of laughter and life lessons.

    7. Ray the Lightning Bug and the Swamp Crew from "Princess and the Frog"

Ray, the absolutely adorable Cajun lightning bug from The Princess and the Frog , left a lasting mark for many, even though his on-screen time was cut a bit… short. From his unwavering love for his beloved Evangeline to his massive family, he partners well with everyone from Mama Odie to the jazz-playing Lois and every swamp friend in between. A spinoff featuring the ‘swamp crew’ would be filled with catchy tunes, a truly beautiful setting, and a metric ton of heart.

    8. Tantor and Terk from "Tarzan"

Want to talk about comedic timing? Let's give a nod to Tantor the elephant and Terk the gorilla. These two aren’t just Tarzan’s hilarious friends, these jungle jesters could easily pull off a show all their own! They could explore the deepest, darkest recesses of the jungle and face off against poachers and environmental challenges (think Captain Planet, but with a jungle critter team up instead of superpowers). A show featuring these two would be full of laughter, lessons, and an appreciation for the world around us. Isn't that something we could all look forward to?

    9. Dogpool from "Deadpool"

What if Deadpool had a furrier, more PG-rated counterpart? Enter Dogpool, the… not-so-pretty pooch featured in the recent box office hit. While not a traditional Disney character, we can absolutely picture a spinoff where Dogpool navigates a world of superhero shenanigans and faces off against all sorts of villains. He'd bring that unique blend of slapstick humor and complete and utter irreverence for everything going on around him. Would it be hilarious? You can bet your tail it would be. Would they be able to keep it PG? The jury's still out on that one!

Come on, Disney, there are a whole host of shows you could create, starting with these fun ideas!
