Some dogs love going on fun adventures. For Benji the Bernedoodle, it's seeing the really special sights of California alongside his favorite person, Dad—and he gets his very own side car to boot!

In a recent Instagram video shared by Benji the Bernedoodle ( @lilmanlife ), the fluffy boy enjoys a nice ride through the Redwoods and boy, oh boy, is it spectacular! Take a look at their journey!

"Cool and all but I thought they said giant treats," the caption begins. "Please do enjoy our family cruise down one of the coolest and most unique roads in America, an avenue towered by the tallest trees in the world, the Redwoods. PS: The trees are bigger in person."

The clip shows Benji preparing for his ride with a cool-looking set of goggles as he sits patiently in a side car attached to Dad's electric bike. Then, the ride begins along a paved trail and the Bernedoodle soaks up the wind in his fur while taking in the gorgeous sights of the legendary Redwood forest. It looks like they had the best day and some of Benji's fans agree.

"Benji is SUCH a boss and he knows he is! Look at how he got out and said 'pull my car out to the front! I don't work here!'" one person wrote. "You guys are having too much fun! Awesome!" another said. "Adopt meto your family adventure for a day!" another joked.

He's makes the best little companion so it's no wonder Dad takes him along!

Safety Tips For Dogs Riding in a Sidecar

Benji seems like he knows what he's doing, but getting a dog to ride in a sidecar can be tricky if you've never done it before. The American Motorcycle Trading Co. stresses that, above all else, safety comes first .

First, make sure riding with a dog is legal in your state because it's not everywhere. If you're good to go, consider the breed. Some dogs are better suited for trips on wheels, such as:

    • Bichons
    • Cavalier King Charles Spaniels
    • Havanese
    • Maltese
    • Pugs
    • Yorkshire Terriers

Benji isn't any of those, but he's had enough training to know what to expect without using a harness or carrier. Always know what the day's weather will bring and your dog's temperament in general before taking them along.

If they're new to sidecar transportation, take it slow by first getting them used to sitting in the sidecar with their gear (goggles, etc.). Train them with praise, treats, and affection so they know it's a safe place to sit. Once they've done it a couple of times, take them for a short ride and be patient with them. With a little practice— and safe driving! —the two of you will be off on adventures just like Benji and his dad!
